The Producers of Dragons’ Den are on the Hunt for Interested Canadian Companies | the Big Decision

July 19, 2011 – CBC announced today that the producers of Canada’s top-rated entertainment program, Dragons’ Den, are looking for struggling Canadian companies to participate in an exciting new business show. In this new series, some of the country’s top investors will spend their time and money to help these Canadian companies get back on their feet.

Saskatchewan Young Professionals and Entrepreneurs (SYPE) held its 8th Annual Silver Spades Gala on Saturday, June 11th, 2011 at the Conexus Art Centre in Regina, SK. Members of SYPE and
stakeholders in the community were able to come together to celebrate business success stories from all over Saskatchewan. While the evening was memorable from the two power outages that halted their band, Fur Eel, from playing, it was successful at highlighting the four awards that were presented during the evening to all of the deserving recipients.

These are awards of $10K, $25K and $100K (tax free!) to people who have successfully commercialized ( i.e. have a business and a revenue stream) an invention. To be clear this is not a research grant, but rather an award for inventing something and then making money from it. Cool, huh?
