The SYPE Saskatoon Annual General Meeting was held last night, great to see lots of our members out to it!

Voting is currently taking place for SYPE Saskatoon Director positions.
Please vote for your candidates, make your voice heard!!
Here's how to vote:

  1. Please select five (5) of the Director Candidates listed below by placing an "X" on the line beside their name.  You may select less than five, but not more than five (selection of more than five will result in a spoiled ballot).

  1. In making your selection, please carefully consider the skill set required for the position with the skill set of the candidate.  Biographies of Director Candidates are listed on page 2-4.  The five (5) open positions with a brief description of the required skill set includes:

 

·         Vice President: A leadership role & support to the President of SYPE

 

·         Administration Director: A corporate governance role where legal skills are an asset

 

·         Finance Director: A financial role where an accounting designation is an asset

 

·         Investor Relations Director: A liaison role between SYPE and its Corporate Sponsors

Jocelyn Allard

 

Jocelyn Allard is a Manager, Assurance & Advisory at Deloitte.  She started with the firm in May 2003 in Calgary and moved to the Saskatoon office in May 2004 after obtaining her Bachelor of Commerce (Great Distinction) from the U of S.  Jocelyn received her Master of Professional Accounting in 2006 and her Chartered Accountant designation in 2007.  She has served on the SYPE Board as Director of Finance for the Saskatoon and Provincial Chapters for the past 2 years.  She is also on the Board of YWCA Saskatoon and is a member of the RUH Foundation Corporate Giving Campaign.   Jocelyn would like to apply her experience and passion with SYPE to the Vice-President position.

 

Jeret Bode

 

Mr. Bode joined MGI Securities as an Investment Banker in the Saskatoon Office in 2009. He is a graduate of the University of Saskatchewan with a Masters of Business Administration (MBA) majoring in marketing and finance as well as undergraduate degrees in Biology and Agriculture. Mr. Bode's initial focus was in the fields of science and research, working for Novartis, Cargill, and Sony Japan. He then utilized his experience in the entrepreneurial world by co-founding the first spin-off company off Canada's largest science project, the Canadian Light Source (Synchrotron). Mr. Bode later worked for a large venture capital firm in Canada and was based out of Saskatchewan. Over the past number of years, he has worked for a national brokerage firm in the corporate finance division where he sourced, structured and placed capital for companies in Saskatchewan and across Canada. Mr. Bode sits on a number of committees and boards in the province of Saskatchewan and recently, he was awarded "100 People, 100 Reasons" as one of the 100 people over the past 100 years making a difference in Saskatoon.   Jeret has served as SYPE's Director of Investor Relations and has indicated his willingness to continue on in this role.

 

 

Nehad El-Sherif

 

Nehad is an electrical engineer with a M.Sc. degree, born in Cairo, Egypt. Because of this excellent academic standing, he was awarded a scholarship to pursue a PhD at the University of Saskatchewan. Recently, Nehad accepted a position as an R&D senior electrical engineer at Littelfuse Startco, and decided to put his PhD on hold.  Nehad has been an avid volunteer, on and off campus. CAMECO Spectrum, orientation, ISO Welcome, Experience Us, JA Saskatchewan - company program, and Santa Claus parade are examples of the volunteer activities he has been involved with. Nehad has been very involved with the W. Brett Wilson Center for Entrepreneurial Excellence. He attend and volunteered for many Wilson Center events like the idea challenge contest and the Pitch Party. He sits on a number of committees: Lemonade Day Saskatchewan (an educational program that teaches kids entrepreneurship brought to Canada for the first time), the 2011 IEEE Illumination conference, he also is the president of Campus Howlers Toastmasters club.  Nehad is interested in entrepreneurship and is planning to start his own business in the future. SYPE is a great organization to be involved with because of all the opportunities SYPE offers to young professionals in Saskatoon and Saskatchewan. Nehad likes to be actively involved and participate in the organizations he is part of, which is the reason he decided to run for a SYPE director position. Another reason is his interest in meeting new people from various disciplines and backgrounds. Having an ENTJ personality, Nehad like to be in charge and take leadership roles, a vice president position on the SYPE board of director would be his preference.

 

Ryan Grieve

 

Ryan was born in and has lived in Saskatoon his entire life.  Immediately after graduating from high school Ryan attended the U of S and majored in Political Studies.  After graduating from the college of Arts & Science in 2006, Ryan was accepted into the College of Law.  Ryan graduated from the College of Law in 2009 and began his Articles at McDougall Gauley LLP in Saskatoon.  In June of 2010 Ryan completed his Articles and was called to the Saskatchewan Bar.  Ryan currently maintains a general practice, but would like to specialize in corporate and commercial law as he gains experience and his practice develops.  Ryan is excited to become part of SYPE as not only does it provide a way to give back to his community, but will provide him with a valuable experience for the development of his career.  Ryan's preferred position on the Board is Administrative Director, where his professional legal experience will be an asset.  Ryan has always enjoyed playing sports.  For the 2001-2003 football seasons Ryan was a member of the Saskatoon Hilltops.  Ryan is currently involved in men's soccer during the summer and Ultimate Frisbee over the winter.

 

Andrew Kachur

 

Mr. Kachur has been working at Hergott Duval Stack LLP since May 2006 and received his Chartered Accountant designation in May 2008.  His past community involvements include being a Big Brother with the Big Brothers Big Sisters organization in Saskatoon as well as volunteering with the Kinsmen Hockey League.  Some of his main hobbies include playing acoustic guitar, singing/songwriting, hockey, touch football and golf.  Mr. Kachur is interested in getting involved with SYPE (preferred position - Director of Finance), as the organization aligns with his career and gives him the opportunity to meet other young professionals who are passionate about the business community of Saskatchewan.

 

Vaughn Krywicki

Vaughn Krywicki believes a great business and career is built on a solid foundation. In saying this, Vaughn kick started his professional career with a Bachelor of Commerce Degree from the University of Saskatchewan - Marketing Major. Since then he has held positions in marketing, sales and management roles in financial, oil & gas and real estate industries - He has always been a self-starter. Vaughn has a passion for real estate and helping others - he is a real estate agent for RE/MAX Saskatoon.  As a young and energetic business professional, Vaughn wishes to align himself with SYPE and it's members to build long-term relationships together for a mutual benefit. Krywicki and SYPE share the same values of wishing to grow and nurture business in Saskatoon and Saskatchewan - our future is so bright right now in this great province.  Vaughn believes in giving back to the community as a member of The University of Saskatchewan Alumni Council and a donor to the Children's Miracle Network. In his spare time, Vaughn enjoys staying active with almost any sport including golf, volleyball, tennis, running and snowboarding to name a few. His skill set would naturally lend themselves to either the Director of Investor Relations or Vice-President position.  There is never a dull moment when Vaughn is around.

 

 

Sohail Mall

 

Sohail Mall is an MBA student at the University of Saskatchewan with undergraduate training in Computer Sciences.  Sohail has Trustee experience on the Board of Governors for Brock University in St. Catharines, Ontario.  His work experience includes leadership roles at The Royal Bank of Canada, Research In Motion and The Ontario Lung Association.  Sohail's particular skill-set can add a unique dimension to the SYPE Executive Board.

 

 

Lee Martin MPAcc, CA

 

Lee Martin completed the Masters of Professional Accounting program (MPAcc) and received his CA designation in 2009.  Later in 2009, he joined the team at Federated Co-operatives Limited to supervise the accounting of the Agriculture and General Merchandise Divisions in the Corporate Accounting Department.  He has been involved in SYPE since 2006 and has enjoyed being active on the FCL United Way committee as well as the Nutana Curling Club board.

 

 

Lee Vermeulen

 

Lee Vermeulen has been doing web development and video game development for about ten years now and has a four year degree in computer science.  Lee does web development for Saskatoon organizations under the company 3dElement and he owns a video game development called Alientrap. Alientrap released the popular game Nexuiz in 2005, and has two games coming out in 2011 for Xbox/Psn.  Lee recently designed the new SYPE website so his skill set is very well suited to the Website & Design Director.

 

Dawn Wotherspoon:

 

Dawn Wotherspoon obtained a B.Comm degree with a specialization in Marketing from the University of Saskatchewan in 2006. With a passion for entrepreneurship, Dawn started her first business venture in 2005, and today she continues in an active role as President/CEO of her business ClubMynx Fitness Inc. Being involved in SYPE presents the opportunity to foster relationships with other young entrepreneurs and professionals in the city, and by taking on a more active role in the SYPE organization Dawn hopes to bring a fresh entrepreneurial perspective to the organization. Her preferred Director position is the Website and Design Director, where Dawn feels her marketing education and past real life experience designing, building and managing her own business website will be an asset. On a personal note, Dawn enjoys holding leaderships positions with various other committees including being the Chair of the Youth & Knowledge Development Committee with the Saskatoon Chamber of Commerce, as well as being Chair of the SIFE (Students in Free Enterprise) Advisory Board. Dawn also enjoys living an active and healthy lifestyle, maintaining Group Fitness Leadership, Personal Training and Yoga certifications.
